Colin Pine graduated from James Madison University in 1996.  Following three years of working in Taipei and studying Mandarin at National Taiwan University, he returned to the US where he did written translation at the State Department for 2 years in Washington, DC.  After deferring from law school, Colin was hired to translate for Yao Ming following Yao’s selection as the #1 draft pick in the 2002 draft.

 He worked with Yao for three seasons before moving to Beijing to join NBA China in 2005.  He now runs the non-apparel licensing business for the NBA China Global Merchandising Group

NBA China's non-apparel licensing business covers a broad swathe of merchandise, from basketballs to computer accessories.  Prior to the 2004 China Games, the licensing business was a run remotely from the US.  Since establishing a presence on the ground in China that year, the licensing business has experienced rapid year-on-year growth, and expects that trend to continue.
